A winter wonderland awaits in Lincoln

A fantastic - and spectacular - sight awaits you at Hobo Railroad in Lincoln, New Hampshire. The crew of the Utah-based Ice Castles has brought this giant ice fortress back for a fourth year. It is roughly an acre in size, its tallest points reach about 25 feet high and it takes artisans 4,000 combined hours to drip, "grow" and shape icicles to create this life-size fairytale playground.

The breathtaking works of art have become a must-see winter attraction and social media sensation drawing more than a million people over the last five years to the company’s five locations in North America.

Since 2011, travelers from all over the globe have flocked to Ice Castles’ locations to walk through the interactive castles. The castles feature ice-carved tunnels, fountains, slides, frozen thrones and towers that reach astonishing heights. LED lights frozen inside 25 million pounds of ice twinkle to music, adding a magical ambiance to the already awe-inspiring structures.

You can walk through it during the day, but at night it comes alive with embedded multicolor lights that make the ice glow from within. This year even more spectacular icy fun awaits in the forms of slides, waterfalls, caves, thrones and more. Plus, if you have kids who watch "Frozen" on loop, then this real life ice castle is sure to impress any Elsa fans.

Weather permitting, the Ice Castle will be open from December 30, 2016 through February 11, 2017.
