Bundle up, and tighten your skates! If you’re looking for some classic winter fun, look no further than one of NH’s outdoor ice skating rinks. Here are some outdoor ice skating spots (rinks and maintained ponds/lakes) across the state that are perfect for a relaxing day of skating (or trying not to fall!).

If hiking to a river or pond to skate is your thing, make sure to check with town officials or the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department to see if ice is safe. Ice can look solid and inviting while being dangerously thin. Never go out onto any ice without first making sure the conditions are safe to do so. Remember, thickness is not always uniform across a body of water!

Puddle Dock Pond, Portsmouth
The rink offers daily public skating, adaptive ice time, private rink rentals, skating lessons, and pick-up pond hockey on a professionally maintained ice surface supported by a chilling system and Zamboni. Ice skate rentals, training aids, and skate sharpening services are also available.

Nestlenook Farm, Jackson
Ice skate in an atmosphere reminiscent of a scene out of a Currier & Ives Painting on Nestlenook’s 3 acre Emerald Lake.

Lake Harold at Owl’s Nest Resort, Thornton
Lake Harold become a top destination for ice skaters and hockey lovers alike as the water turns to ice. Bring your ice skates and even a hockey stick and come carve it up on the lake! Ice levels will be monitored on a daily basis and the lake will be open with conditions permitting. Keep your ear out for upcoming pond hockey tournaments this winter as well!

Dorrs Pond, Manchester
Weather permitting, Dorrs Pond in Livingston Park is cleared of snow, making a delightful outdoor skating venue free of charge. There is a Warming Hut adjacent to the pond where patrons can use the restrooms and warm up by the wood stove. Please call the (603) 624-6444 to find if the ice is considered “safe to skate on.”

White Park, Concord
Enjoy a leisurely skate in Concord’s White Park!

King Pine Ski Area, East Madison
The Tohko Dome Ice Skating Rink is conveniently located just across the street from the King Pine Base Lodge, and it’s open on weekends and holiday periods whenever weather conditions permit. It’s family-friendly and welcomes skaters of all ability levels, and is outfitted with a warming station to help keep you nice and toasty between laps.

Schouler Park, North Conway
*NOTE: Schouler Park public skating is closed this winter
During the winter months, the Town Parks and Recreation department sets up and maintains a rink in Schouler Park for public skating right in front of the Railroad’s Victorian train station. The rink is lit for night skating and there is also a warming hut.

Attitash Mountain Village, Bartlett
Bring your own skates or rent some at a nearby shop. Come play in our outdoor ice skating rink, perfect for an afternoon of hockey or general play surrounded by towering pines and views of neighboring mountains. It can be found behind buildings 4 & 5, at the start of our nordic ski & snowshoe trails. It’s open to all guests of Attitash Mtn. Village from 8 a.m. thru 10 p.m.
