Silver Mountain Cidery
Something is fermenting in Lempster.
Thanksgiving may be the perfect time to try a local apple wine or cider. Steve Miner and his wife Cindy are producing about nine blends of apples and fruit at their cidery in Lempster. Steve says the local apples are hard to get this year because of the frost during apple blossom time. Meanwhile, he has been using apples from Alyson's Orchard in Walpole.
Silver Mountain Cidery offers a range of product, from a traditional hard apple with a clean finish to a sweeter Honey Apple Wine with a natural effervescence like champagne. They also produce a champagne apple wine, but it is only available onsite.
Nothing else is added to these products, just the apples and fruits, such as raspberries or black cherries. The cider is fermented in oak while the wines are fermented in steel tanks for a cleaner taste.
Tastings are available at the cidery on weekends. Just call ahead if the weather is bad.
