It’s time to think about making your own wines for gift giving. IncrediBREW in Nashua is a great destination for home brewers and also home vintners. Sample their wines, then pick your favorite to make as a hostess gift for friends and family. “Premium” red wines range from deep, rich Amarone and cabs to Washington State Merlot to a super Tuscan — one of their gold medal winners ($220 per 28 bottles).

Premium whites include a Viognier and Austrian Grüner Veltliner ($210 per 28 bottles). “Quality” reds include a Pinot Noir ($180 per 28 bottles) and “quality” whites include a German Riesling ($180 per 28 bottles). If you are rushed for time, consider their “4 Week Wines,” like the Beaujolais that ferments in only four weeks. Have even less time available? Consider making old-fashioned soda in flavors such as sarsaparilla, black cherry or birch beer ($45 for 48 bottles plus $15 for labels). They only need a two-day carbonation cycle.

If you are hosting a New Year’s Eve party, a “house” Champagne ($165 per 15 bottles) can make a big hit. They also make fruit and dessert wines, including a tasty Chocolate Raspberry Port ($195 per 30 small bottles).

The process takes three visits — one to taste and choose, another to mix the batch and finally a return visit to bottle and take home your loot. You can design your own label or choose a template to be completed. They print out the labels on adhesive stock for easy application.
