Dancing Lion Chocolates
Rich Tango-Lowy is a master chocolatier with training in France and travels to the cocoa-growing regions of the world. He brings back the most interesting single-origin, single-plantation and extraordinary blended chocolates. At the Dancing Lion storefront, exotic chocolate bon bons, some with hand-painted designs, and expertly molded bars are all aptly presented in a jewelry case. The painting is done by an artist in residence for truly ephemeral, yes, edible art. The small café is also a place to sit and enjoy a bowl of drinking chocolate with a buttery croissant or a small Mallorca sandwich with Le Palais des Thés teas. Chocolate-making is a science, and difficult to master. Tango-Lowy is continuing to learn and also teaches classes at the shop. The next croissant baking class is scheduled for March 15, 2016. Other classes include Zen brownie-making, and introductory and master chocolate classes. In February, Tango-Lowy is creating a limited number of chocolate gift boxes filled with bon bons, each with a hand-painted lid. Another offering, the Cacao Connoisseur’s Club, is a six-month membership for enjoying exotic chocolate bars at a cost of $95, plus shipping or pick up at the shop.
