CR’s The Restaurant Fills the Hole Left by CR Sparks

Chuck Rolocek’s latest venture is open in Hampton. The long-awaited replacement for CR Sparks in Bedford is built upon the fine architectural bones of the former Bontá Restaurant.

Remaining is the great fireplace, the nice division of bar and dining space and upscale ambiance. Although the setting is a bit more rustic to the eye, the details are impressive, with tufted booth seating, barn-inspired woodwork and a U-shaped bar to encourage congeniality.

The menu is on par with CR Sparks, with everything from pizzas to satisfying salads to classic entrées like beef tenderloin. In fact, the executive chef, Chris Veatch, who opened Sparks 20 years ago, is on board here after a stint in Vermont. Former Sparks patrons might remember the lamb shank (pictured), which they can find here as well. For those of you who loved Bontá’s bartender, Al Neri, he lives again under this new regime. Open for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner nightly.
