There are many farms throughout the state that allow you to cut down your own Christmas tree (see the list below), but, if you just can’t decide where to go, then here are three great suggestions:
Cut down your own Christmas tree in the glory of the White Mountains
Starting the Friday after Thanksgiving, you can cut down your own Christmas tree in the White Mountain National Forest, including alongside the Kancamagus Highway. Permits are $5, and may be purchased online, or at one of the district offices- cutting rules and restrictions apply.

Christmas Trees at The Rocks Estate
If you’re the kind of Christmas-o-phile who longs for a Norman Rockwell holiday, this is as close as it gets. Hop on a horse-drawn wagon through rolling fields to cut down your own Christmas tree. Your tree is wrapped and tied to your car while you enjoy holiday eats and a marshmallow roast around an outdoor fire pit. Then you can shop for locally made holiday gifts at The Rocks Marketplace. Please note, this year trees will be cut-your-own. If you have accessibility concerns and are not able to cut your own tree, please contact The Rocks via email (info@therocks.org) or phone (603-444-6228) at least one week ahead of your desired pick-up date to discuss options for a tree from The Rocks.

Cut Your Own at Noel’s Tree Farm
It isn’t necessary to trek way up north to chop down a tree. Over the river and through the woods from Nashua and Manchester is Noel’s Tree Farm. Every day from November 23 to Christmas Eve, you can cut a tree down yourself or pick up a pre-cut tree. There’s always a wood fire burning where you can cook a hot dog and sip a cup of cocoa, and a petting zoo! Choral groups sometimes perform on weekends, making this a perfect spot to spend a festive afternoon. Après Christmas they’ll take back the tree and grind it up to mulch next year’s crop.
