The Master Dowser

The ancient practice of dowsing is alive and well in New Hampshire today. Carol Gader, of Claremont, is one of about 60 people in the state’s two chapters of the American Society of Dowsers. Gader, considered a master dowser, has been doing it for some 20 years — on both a practical and a spiritual level. She might use her “divining rod” to dowse for a well one day and the next for well-being. Gader says dowsing has greatly improved her life, and that she can help others as well.

How does dowsing work? Do you consider it science? It is a form of science and is only as good as the practitioner using it. All life forms have energy or a wave length. The dowser just tunes into the specific energy or wave length that he is looking for. Like a radio or TV wave length. You turn to the channel you are looking for.

How far back does dowsing go?

Thousands of years. Archeologists have found ancient tools from Egypt, China and many other countries. There are pictures in caves of dowsers using their tools. Moses had a rod and a staff. He used the rod to find water in the desert.

What have you dowsed for? Water, lost items, gardening, supplements my body needs, vortexes, lay lines and which doctor or medicine will be best for me or others

Could dowsing find a downed plane, a missing child or a gold mine? Yes, but authorities still won’t listen to dowsers.

Controlled studies have found dowsing to be no better than chance …

I tell people up front that it’s 90 percent accurate.

How do you respond to people who say dowsing is part of the occult or supernatural? Look it up in the dictionary. Occult means to conceal, hidden, secret, mysterious, magic. In another dictionary it says hidden truth. Supernatural means celestial or divine. Supernatural means not explainable by the known forces or laws of nature or involving God, ghosts, spirits, etc. The Bible says The Mystery of all the ages will be revealed in the end times. Many believe we are in the end times of this age and so much is being revealed.

Why is it called a “divining rod”?

Because it is a Divine practice.

In what way? Dowsing helps one become more spiritual. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I feel that we are connected to all there is out there, like a large web. Since I feel this way, everything to me is sacred and should be treated with a great deal of respect, especially that which I am looking for.
