The Gourmet Buzz

The Modern gets modern. Word has it that a new upscale Japanese restaurant will be opening soon in the location of the former Modern Restaurant in Nashua. Initial plans are underway also for an Irish pub, with entertainment, in the former bike shop on Main Street, bordering the Nashua River. At Factory 57, the three-level eatery on Factory Street, cabaret-style entertainment is being added on the lower level. Check it out on Thursday evenings.

Just over the border in Groton, Mass., construction is beginning for a new upscale casual restaurant called The Gibbet Hill Grill. The owner and developer is Steven Webber, former owner of Stratus Computer Corp. Webber virtually grabbed the 300-acre parcel away from housing developers to offer the area “not just a meal,” but a languid country experience complete with barns, animals, trails and broad vistas that will preserve part of the old Black Angus steer farm site. The opening of the 150-seat restaurant is planned for the fall. Additional function room space will be ideal for weddings. NH
