The six events this week that you shouldn't miss

There are so many great events happening in New Hampshire this June, we simply couldn't fit them all in our June issue. Each week this month, keep your eyes peeled for our picks for the best events of the week that you didn't see in the pages of our magazine.

1. Poetry in the Gardens, North Hampton, June 13

Enjoy a garden tour and a poetry reading from former Portsmouth poet laureate Kate Leigh at this fundraiser for Fuller Gardens and Star Island. (603) 430-6267. More info here.

2. Alzheimer's Café, Manchester, June 14

If you're a caretaker of an Alzheimer's patient, bring your loved one to this memory-boosting program as the Currier celebrates four years of offering the event. (603) 669-6144. More info here.

3. 17th Annual Hampton Beach Master Sand Sculpting Classic, Hampton Beach, June 15-17

This crowd-pleasing contest is indeed a New Hampshire "classic" — hit the beach during the three-day fest to admire mind-blowing art sculpted from 200 tons of imported sand. (603) 548-6002. More info here.

4. Four Voices, Gilford, June 16

Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Indigo Girls Amy Ray and Emily Saliers join forces for this night of old-school, girl-power jams. (603) 293-4700. More info here.

5. Newport Brewfest, Newport, June 17

Now in its fourth year, this fest focuses on Granite State nanobreweries, including Belgian Mare, Third Colony and Swift Current. (603) 863-1510. More info here.

6. Seacoast Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival, Somersworth, June 18

22 food trucks and 12 breweries — ranging from Crescent City Kitchen and PhugginBurger to Rockingham Brewing Co. and White Birch Brewing — form the lineup of this massive foodie fest. (617) 782-7117. More info here.

Oh, and one more thing…

We're a little biased, but we think our 16th annual Best of NH Party on this Thursday, June 15 in Manchester, is definitely one of the best events of the week. With nearly 70 local food and drink vendors, a slew of talented musicians and a grand fireworks finale, this celebration of the best that New Hampshire has to offer is one party you can't miss. More info here.
