An emerging nightlife trend has Granite Staters drinking a bit more creatively. Social painting, a brand new way to spend some leisure time, takes all the fun of a night out at the bars and combines it with the artistic outlet of painting.

The activity has already gained popularity in major cities around the US, and in the past few years it has taken a foothold in New Hampshire. Manchester's Muse Paintbar, which combines painting instruction with dining from its restaurant and bar, is just one example of social painting's Granite State presence (Read more about Muse in "Evening Out"), but the trend is about to become even bigger.

Paint Nite, a company that brings social painting to bars and restaurants in cities all around the country, has recently begun hosting events at Nashua and Manchester locations. The Paint Nite experience allows customers the chance to drink and dine at a favorite local restaurant, all while receiving professional artistic instruction and creating their own painting to take home.

"Paint Nite offers a creative way to have a few drinks or meet new people in a laid-back atmosphere," says Paint Nite co-founder Dan Hermann. "You don't need to have an ounce of artistic ability, you just need to be open to having fun."
