Review of MacDaddy’s Rollin’ Smoke BBQ

Award-winning Kansas City-style barbeque that comes to you!

Want award-winning Kansas City-style barbeque in NH? Pulled pork sliders, Carolina-style coleslaw, smoked mac and cheese with Andouille sausage or deep-dish smoked chicken enchiladas ring your bell? Well, then you may already know about mobile caterers MacDaddy’s Rollin’ Smoke BBQ. Started as a competition barbeque team by Mary Macdonald and her two children, Sean and Clarissa, MacDaddy’s went commercial after frequent requests to make their locally sourced, smoked food menu available at more than just the occasional competitive event.

Most of their business consists of weddings or rehearsal dinners but they also do corporate events and drop-off catering. They most frequently serve “canteen-style” from the window of their combination kitchen/smoker trailer. Macdonald says, “Barbeque is a low-stress way for people to have an event.”

If you don’t have a wedding or other large event to organize, they’re committed to participating in community fundraisers in the Laconia region. They’ll be serving at the Historic Belknap Mills free concert series on July 10.

And competition is clearly not out of their system yet. At the Monadnock Up In Smoke BBQ Festival — the region’s first KCBS (Kansas City Barbeque Society)-sanctioned competition, bringing in about 25 teams from around New England and beyond — MacDaddy’s hopes to be the People’s Choice hometown favorite or maybe the state champion. It takes place June 1–2.

A recently launched line of bottled barbeque sauces called Swineheart’s Sauces includes three different styles and is available online.
