Red Carpet Oscar Party
Feel like a movie star at Red River Theatres' annual Academy Awards celebration on March 4
Strut your stuff down the red carpet at this annual fundraiser for Concord's independent (and Best of NH Award-winning) movie theatre Red River Theatres. Starting at O Steaks & Seafood at 5:30 p.m., guests can walk the red carpet where they will be interviewed about their fashionable attire by Doris Ballard of Concord TV. At O, enjoy appetizers, live music performed by Tall Granite Big Band and dancing. Then make your way downstairs to the cinema where you can watch the Academy Awards on the big screen. A "Treat Suite" will be located in the renovated Simchik Cinema, full of delectable treats and open all night long.
Attendees are encouraged to dress up, with the diversity and elegance of Hollywood as their inspiration, and enjoy a marathon night of good food, wine and beer, trivia, posing for photos and many chances to win prizes. Film lovers will come together to celebrate the nation’s highest film honors, in a local, friendly and fun environment.
All proceeds from the evening go to support community and educational programming at Red River Theatres. Red River opened in 2007, after a seven-year community effort and a $1.8 million capital campaign. Movie buffs might recognize the theatre's namesake. Founding volunteers named the indie cinema after “Red River,” a classic 1948 Western starring John Wayne, in which the lead characters undertake an epic, nearly impossible, but ultimately successful, journey. Ever since it first opened it's doors, Red River has followed through on its commitment to offer a diverse program of first-run independent films, cult favorites, classics, local and regional film projects, foreign films and lots of discussion.
Tickets are $60 and can be purchased online or by calling (603) 224-4600 ext. 2.
