Pillows With a View

Printmaker Susann Foster Brown of Milton discovered that she could print her etchings on fine-quality muslin. She then “mounts” the prints on pillows that she sews and hand quilts. The different pieced fabrics and colors visually act as the mat and the frame.

The imagery for the prints is reflective of bucolic rural life in Milton. Susann lives near the Farm Museum and often uses animals, nature and old buildings as subject matter. Like prints, the pillows are signed and given titles. Shown here are “Off Her Rocker,” a scene from the porch at the Farm Museum, and “Good Neighbors,” a scene from nearby Sandwich.

Susann is a member of the N.H. Art Association and the League of N.H. Craftsmen. Pillows are available directly through her and at select League shops, including Littleton. $80 to $90.
