Exploritas No Longer

I am writing on behalf of Elderhostel regarding information about our organization that was recently included in the July issue of New Hampshire Magazine. We appreciate the coverage of our programs in an article called “Hitting the Road” by Stacy Milbouer and Tom Long and I wanted to share some updated information with you. We have stopped using the name Exploritas for our programs and have extended the name Road Scholar to all of our offerings. I hope that you will be able to update your readers with this new information.

Enjoyed the article “N.H. High Schools Worth Cheering About” [September 2010]. As a former Londonderry resident, we are very proud of our Londonderry HS Marching Band. They are participating for the fourth time in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Anaheim this year! Another record for the show-stopping Lancers! Keep up the good work.

Loving Our Segways

Saw the Blips column in the last issue and thought I would forward the attached to you regarding Segways. The image of Tina and me was taken in Copenhagen, where we enjoyed a great tour along the waterfront and other historic places. The image of Tina [not shown] was taken in Brugge, Belgium. Most fascinating to say the least. The beauty of using a Segway is that you can see more of an area in a shorter time than the hunt most visitors go on to see highlights. We now try to get a Segway tour when we arrive in an area, then go back to fully explore the sights we want to enjoy.

Two Great Ladies

I received our personal copy of NH Magazine yesterday and noted the wonderful article “Different Kind of Caring” about nurse practitioners with two of our top NPs having been interviewed. Christine Ziemba was NP of the Year this year at our annual conference and Linda Reed has been our treasurer for about 10 years. Two great ladies who make the role of NP outstanding!

Twice Amused

Mary Broadbent Sullivan’s “Care to Dance” [Last Laugh, September 2010] amused me twice. Memories of my grandmother, an otherwise staid New Hampshire lady, streaking across the back lawn, ripping her clothes off. She’d dug up another hornet nest in her garden. And memories of Mary Broadbent, student in my Exeter High English class a few years ago. I would like to think that I inspired her to write – and to flee the dreaded yellowjacket.

The Elusive LOL

I enjoy reading New Hampshire Magazine each month. It’s informative for a couple of newcomers to the state looking for something to do and I love reading what’s on the mind of your feature writers. “Last Laugh” is my favorite. Soon as my magazine is in the house I head to the last page to see if the guest writer’s wit will cause me to chuckle out loud. Sadly, it’s not always so. I will continue to read the magazine, opening it up to the last page in my pursuit of the

elusive LOL.

Overlooked Event

I am a longtime subscriber to NH Magazine and love every issue. Unless I somehow missed it, I am surprised that you have never done a feature article on the N.H. Senior Games held every year in July and August. It is a great organization and the N.H. Games are by far the best and well-attended venue in New England. They are currently under way in several locations in N.H.
