They've Got Gear
How exciting it was to find the articles about camping in NH in the latest NH Magazine [July 2012]. Great resources for first-time and experienced campers alike.
How disappointing it was to not find any mention of Eastern Mountain Sports in the Gearbox list. Not only is the corporate headquarters located in Peterborough, NH, but there are eight stores throughout the state. Eastern Mountain Sports – an excellent resource for camping gear and knowledge – located right here in New Hampshire. Shouldn't New Hampshire Magazine be supporting local businesses?

The Scoop on Newts
We are curious about some of the newt protocol, like are there some advertisers who don't want the newt on their copy? Like, is there a special newt-placer for each issue, and WHAT A GIG, hey. We enjoy the monthly hunt and can't believe it when we find the one we missed the last month. Also, is it my old eyes or is the newt growing smaller?
We enjoy each issue. Some readers object to the bra ads, but they're bra ads for heaven's sake. Get real. If they don't like them, they don't have to study them. I appreciate that you print some negative letters each month. We cannot please everyone.
Bud and I continue to smile each month as the magazine arrives. We also subscribe to Yankee and, honestly, I find myself looking for newts in that magazine too.

When Parking Was Free
The story "Take a Hike in Bretton Woods" [June 2012] brought back many pleasant memories of hikes in the White Mountains Ed and I used to take when he was here on earth. We also used to walk to Diana's Baths – a very pretty place. Parking was free then.

Noted in the North Country
I would like to take a moment and express my gratitude to the readers of NH Magazine who graciously voted my little store "Best" in Shopping [July 2012]. Having a North Country business is not easy due to population and geography, but is well worth the effort knowing that it is making a positive impact. Your magazine captures the ever-changing social landscape of NH. SaVoir Flare simply capitalizes on that brilliance. Thank you.

Next time?
We had hoped to see Chang Thai Café (77 Main St., Littleton) in the Best of NH because of their great sushi and wonderful Lobster Pad Thai among other great dishes. Perhaps next time.

Mostly Good Work
I am a great fan of the dine out guide in New Hampshire Magazine and The Crystal Quail restaurant in Center Barnstead. For some reason The Crystal Quail moved from its proper location in the Lakes category of the guide in the April 2012 issue to the wrong Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee category in the May 2012 issue. Keep up the mostly good work.

Creative Newt-ing
I found the newts. They're on pages 40, 78, 107 and 111. You may not have a newt on page 111 in your magazine but I have one in mine. I scoured the magazine at least 40 times and couldn't find the last newt so creativity got the best of me and I drew one on the rabbit's bow tie on page 111. Now I can read the magazine and get a good night's sleep as all the newts have been found. Thanks again for the challenge. (And the magazine is great too!)
