What a welcome surprise on National Celiac Disease Awareness Day! This is a very well-written and research accurate article. I helped found the Seacoast Celiac Sprue Support Group 20 years ago when I was diagnosed. We are still around, meeting for GF potluck every third Thursday of September, November, January, March and May. November is our get-through-the-holidays Cookie Swap. January we bring soups, stews and breads. Our potlucks are truly that, we just ask that people bring a list of ingredients in their “pot.” We share restaurants, good and bad, travel tips, favorite foods, GF foods to avoid because of taste, support and humor! I am recovering from 23 days in the hospital from bowel surgery. When I was leaving the hospital, I e-mailed our group and put out a request for meals. Our generous members fed me for two weeks! If you’d like more information about meetings or joining please post a reply (alekaartemis@gmail.com) and I’ll connect with you.Aleka Munroe
PortsmouthGood for Body and Soul
I look forward to receiving your magazine and was especially eager to read the featured article “Yoga for Anyone, Anywhere” [September 2011]. Following surgery for breast cancer in 2010, practicing yoga became an integral aspect of my recovery of both body and soul.I wanted your readers to know of a wonderful resource in the Mascoma Valley. YogaPiphany, located in Enfield, offers a wide range of classes taught by several instructors. Owner Nicole Carriere has also added Zumba and kickboxing classes as well. The availability of this studio has been a fabulous addition to the community.Jan Kulig
Canaan Found “Oopsies”
I spotted the newts in the September issue on page 13 hidden in the strawberry, on page 76 inside the Art in the Garden and on page 87 in the Bras Across the River ad. The fourth one eluded me, but I did find a rather odd red number “2” on the blue jeans pocket area of the girl on page 30 that appears to be a mistake. I also found the word “OLyme” on page 62 (first full paragraph) that also appears to be an error. Perhaps the missing newt had something to do with these oopsies?Mark StevensPoll Question
I just started reading your magazine and I learned about your Best of NH poll. When and how can I participate and nominate my favorite businesses for 2012?Tricia Utley Editor’s Note: Thanks for your interest in the Best of NH. How nice when giving away tea to the lucky Newt spotter to have one of the little guys on the teapot (page 97).Fall colors must be getting ready in New Hampshire – still green in Connecticut.Cromwell, Conn.
