1836 “Nutcracker”
The 1836 “Nutcracker” is returning to Portsmouth during the Music Hall and Strawbery Banke Museum’s month-long Vintage Christmas celebration.
The Great Bay Academy of Dance will perform the ballet, now in its 21st season, at the Music Hall. With a unique blend of local history, period costumes and holiday tradition, this version of the classic performance is a must see.
For the younger audience, an abbreviated 45-minute “Nutcracker: In a Nutshell” will be presented on Saturday at 10 a.m.
10 percent of the proceeds from the concert will benefit a local charity.
The Vintage Christmas celebration includes much more than the 1836 “Nutcracker.” You can enjoy the candlelight stroll – now in its 31st season – hosted by the Strawbery Banke Museum, the illuminated holiday parade, a number of live shows including “A Christmas Carol” at the Music Hall, the holiday tree lighting, Vintage Christmas trolley rides, Messiah Sing and much more.
