Blackboards with a prix-fixe menu are typically seen posted outside restaurants abroad, but increasingly the option and trend for dining from a set menu at a set price is appearing here as well. Diners can relax and experience whatever the chef creates that evening, released from making choices à la carte — and better able to pace their meal and estimate the bill.

For $28 pp, this four-course Sunday meal is designed to invoke the nostalgia and aromas of dinner at nonna’s. Salumi e formaggi with truffle honey to start; a first course of chicken, sausage and meatballs over pasta; a second course of spit-roasted sirloin steak with vegetables; and house-made cannoli with orange zest to finish with a flourish.
