Marianne Williamson, Democratic Presidential Candidate Meet-&-Greet
Well-known author, lecturer, entrepreneur and activist, Marianne Williamson announced her candidacy for the Presidency in February.
Her latest book, “The Politics of Love, a Handbook for a New American Revolution” is scheduled for April publication.
Calling for an evolution of our politics and our nation she says “Our deepest political problems are expressed on the level of politics, but they are not rooted there. Our deepest problem is the disengagement of the American heart from the values we purport to hold most dear, and the failure of too many of our citizens to vitally participate in the expression of those values. “
Williamson’s consideration of a run comes after a 35-year-career spent teaching universal spiritual values, non-profit activism and a commitment to social justice. She is an internationally acclaimed lecturer, and has been one of America’s most well-known public voices for more than three decades. Seven of her twelve published books have been New York Times best sellers.
In the 1980s, she founded the Los Angeles and Manhattan Centers for Living, which provided non-medical support services to people with AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses. In 1990, she founded Project Angel Food, a meal-delivery service to home-bound people suffering from AIDS. She also co-founded The Peace Alliance, promoting legislation to establish a United States Department of Peace. In 2010, Marianne founded The Sister Giant Conferences to empower women to run for political office and she, herself, ran for Congress in 2014 in California.
