Cures From the Kitchen
The Rye Driftwood Garden Club begins its 2019-2020 season with herbalist Ginny Shannon who will explore how easy-to-grow herbs and your kitchen can become a medicine cabinet for everyday ailments. During her talk, “Cures from the Kitchen,” Ms. Shannon will discuss the health benefits of many herbs and how to use them in teas and tinctures to improve health and well-being.
Ms. Shannon’s love of herbs began with growing them for cooking. Over the years she has used herbs medically, in fiber dying, as decorative elements, and companion plants. She lives in Newton, NH and has been a Master Gardener volunteer with the UNH Cooperative Extension since 2003. She has worked on multiple master gardener projects including the design, planting and upkeep of herb gardens in Brentwood, North Hampton and Newmarket. She maintains multiple organic gardens at her home, Alium Acres, including more than 60 types of herbs.
