In many ways the recent series by Soo Rye Yoo, "Through Subtle Passages," introduces the viewer to new ways through which our natural landscapes can be viewed in a more symbolic manner while easing our modern sentiments and giving us reason to pause. In each piece the natural splendor of the world around us has been represented through a delicate combination of soft whites and careful, sparse applications of color.
Throughout this series, the artist offers us elegant passages though abstracted landscapes which were not only simplified, but meticulously layered. Each piece mirrors a calming atmosphere so desperately lacking in our all too often chaotic daily routines, offering us a small, momentary haven in which we can breath and reflect.
Opening reception will be on November 10, 3-6 p.m. Come meet the artist, Soo Rye Yoo, listen to music by Ray DeMarco and Claudia Landell, and taste special Korean food. You will also find jewelry, pottery, and books by Soo Rye Yoo and other local authors.
