Fabrizia’s Italian Margarita



What do you do when you have lemons? Make lemonade, of course. Fabrizia Spirits in Salem is well known for their Limoncello, a maceration of alcohol and the zest of lemons sweetened with a simple syrup. What they had left over was the lemon juice. So, it was a natural decision to find a natural home for the fresh juice. Thus the Italian Margarita was born, a ready-to-drink mix of agave tequila and lemonade made from their juice, plus a touch of their own limoncello. Fabrizia products are all natural and contain no preservatives. This is a small company started by Phil Mastroianni and his brother Nick, second generation Italians who were inspired by a visit to Italy in 2003. They have garnered top awards in a national competition for their Limoncello in recent years.

For a refreshing drink, simply fill a margarita glass with ice and fill with the Italian Margarita. Garish with a lemon, if desired, and maybe add a squirt of fresh juice. Want to dress it up a bit more? Add a splash of Chambord, Grand Marnier, Cointreau or Triple Sec. To rim the glass with salt, rub the rim with a slice of lemon, then dip in a plate of kosher salt.
