Portsmouth’s Vintage Christmas and Candlelight Stroll weekends in December, Portsmouth. The Music Hall and the Strawbery Banke Museum are once again organizing a month of holiday events, from the community Messiah Sing at the Music Hall to the picturesque candlelight strolls featuring the historic homes of Portsmouth. December 30-31, Manchester. New Hampshire drumming group Recycled Percussion is coming home for two performances at the Palace Theatre. Ever since their appearance on "America's Got Talent," the band has been playing in the entertainment capital, Las Vegas. The Christmas Revels
December 15-18, Hanover. An Elizabethan celebration of the winter solstice. Travel with the multi-generational cast to England during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, as the Queen goes visiting the countryside on the eve of the winter solstice. Wild antics ensue as the country folk do their best to amuse her, while the early music quartet Punk's Delight wields its colorful array of Renaissance instruments to provide musical entertainment from the ridiculous to the sublime. The show includes the mysterious Abbots Bromley Horn Dance, a riotous "mummer's" play and the legend of St. George and the Dragon. As in every Christmas Revels, the audience is invited to join the cast of stellar guests and local talent in singing rounds and carols and dancing through the aisles for Lord of the Dance. "Scene/Un-Seen"
Through January 30, Manchester. Abstract paintings often evoke excitement, allowing the viewer to interpret the structure of the work in a personal way. January 14, Concord. The second annual New Hampshire Mac & Cheese Bake Off is a delicious event hosted by the Granite State Dairy Promotion. This competition is meant to highlight New Hampshire dairy farms and includes a best "NH-Made" category, but home chefs and restaurants alike are encouraged to bring their favorite recipes. Other categories include "Best Traditional," "Most Creative or Exotic" and "Best Restaurant." Hampton Beach Pavilion Celebration

After over two years of construction, the New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation is celebrating the opening of the Oceanfront Pavilion at Hampton Beach State Park with a New Year's Eve Gala. The event will include music, dancing and fireworks as well as a light-fare menu and drinks. Tickets for the Gala will include a menu of light-fare featuring an assortment of passed hors d'oeuvres, a champagne toast, cash bar, dancing to the music of Vic Paul and fireworks scheduled for 8 p.m. The Gala is from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and is $75 per person. Sleigh Rides
All Winter, Bretton Woods. As long as there is snow on the ground you can take either a one-horse drawn or Autstrian (two horses) sleigh ride through the countryside. The Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods has daily sleigh ride options. The Austrian sleigh runs Monday-Friday from 12 p.m.-2:30 p.m. and Saturday from 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m. and again from 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. The one-horse sleigh is Monday-Friday 5 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Open to public as well as guests.
