In a blind test, our staff compared four N.H. lip balms from around the state. Here’s what they thought.

And the Winner Is...

Jenness Farm

A rare feat, but it happens — the staff members chose a unanimous favorite. Jenness Farm may be known for its goat milk soaps, but the lip balm is just as good. Not too waxy, good smelling without being overpowering, and it’s light on the lips while still getting the job done. Comes in SPF varieties as well.

Lavender Rose

You could call this lip balm the year ‘round variety. It’s light with a pleasant (but not too strong) peppermint tingle. If you’re a lip moisturizer junkie who keeps a tube or a tub all year long, this is the perfect balm for you. Also comes in a fitting light and fresh apricot orange fragrance.

Bee Green Essentials

With essential lemon and lime oils, the Citrus Zest lip balm from Bee Green Essentials is lip smacking good. A close second favorite to Jenness Farm, you can also find fun flavors such as Pink Pucker and Orange Crème Smoothie. The Citrus Zest has the right balance of fragrance, taste and soothing power.

Cardigan Mountain

There’s a ton of good stuff in this balm — Shea butter, beeswax, vitamin E, sweet almond oil and pure essential oil of wintergreen. The result is a balm with a light scent and flavor that concentrates on making your lips as soft as possible. Fresh and minty, this is another good choice for a year ‘round stick to keep on hand.

W.S. Badger Company

The W.S. Badger Company’s Web site proclaims “Powerfully Pure Body Care,” and that’s a perfect description for this lip balm. This heavy-duty moisturizer should be in the pocket of every winter weather outdoor enthusiast. Plus, it’s USDA certified organic — powerfully pure indeed.
