Sniffing out the Christmas

From left: Sweet Grass Farm, Wick-It-Cool Candles and HeavenScent Candles. Photo by Susan Laughlin.

p>Fragrant and cozy!
In a blind (smell) test, our staff compared three N.H. holiday soy wax candles from around the state. Here’s what they thought.

Sweet Grass Farm
The Holiday Greenery Candle has the most subtle scent of all three candles. The smells of balsam and greenery are complemented by a floral scent underneath. This candle would be perfect for a smaller space, like a bedroom or bathroom.

And the winner is...

Wick-It Cool Candles

This winning candle, though its scent is somewhat delicate, is powerful enough to fill a larger room, yet it’s not overpowering or cloying. The smell of balsam perfectly evokes decorating the tree or opening gifts come Christmas morning.

HeavenScent Candles
Once this candle is lit you won’t even need a Christmas tree (at least as far as your nose is concerned). This powerful but pleasant candle smells just as though you’re standing in a field of spruce trees. This candle will no doubt fill your home with the warmth of Christmas scents.
