Fireside dining is one of the pleasures of winter - the warmth of the fire, great food and a good glass of wine. What more could you ask for (except maybe spring)? Here are a few options to consider for a romantic and remarkable meal.

IN A WORD

NORTH COUNTRY

Adair Country Inn
80 Guider Lane
Bethlehem
(888) 444-2600

Website

A table facing the hearth will keep you warm at this quintessential country inn tucked in a quiet corner of the White Mountains.

Goat cheese tart on puree of local heirloom tomatoes drizzled with truffle oil. Pork chop with cider-braised onions and bourbon-spiked applesauce.

Small fire pit outside in the winter months to continue that warm glow under the stars.

Enchanting

MANCHESTER/
NASHUA AREA

Bedford Village Inn
2 Olde Bedford Way, Bedford
(888) 491-8103

Website

One of New Hampshire's favorite inns with an award-winning restaurant that is perfect for a special night out.

Artisan cheese selection, roasted chicken breast with creamed peas, fingerling potatoes, truffled chicken jus and light as air souffles or the ever-popular Chocolate Bag for dessert.
Reserve a table near a fireplace in one of the traditional dining rooms, then adjourn to Corks Wine Bar to enjoy its more modern fireplace for an after-dinner drink.

Elegant

SEACOAST

Library Restaurant at the Rockingham House
401 State St.
Portsmouth
(603) 431-5202

Website

Atmospheric with dark wood paneling, bookshelves and your bill is delivered within the pages of an old book. Loaded with ambiance.

A succulent 12 oz. filet mignon with Gorgonzola cheese sauce and scalloped potatoes for a side. Cognac and Bourbon pecan pie for dessert.

Reserve ahead, ask for a table to be pulled up to the fireplace in the lounge and sing into your cozy wing chairs for an intimate dinner for two.

Classy

MONADNOCK

The Hancock Inn
33 Main St.
Hancock
(603) 525-3318

Website

New Hampshire's oldest inn on the main street of a Currier & Ives village with an inviting colonial atmosphere.

New owners Jared and Marcia Coffin rejuvenated the menu while retaining the inn's most requested dish for the past 25 years: the Shaker Cranberry Pot Roast.

Newly cleaned wood-burning fireplaces should be fired up by mid-November.

Charming
