The Main Attraction: Keene rolls out retail on Main Street

Featured Shop – Miranda's on Main, Keene

Dump boring. Throw out your old blazers and do your wardrobe a favor by indulging in a smart timeless jacket. Miranda's on Main, 1 Main St., has a nice collection including designs by 3 Sisters, Damer and Joseph Ribkoff. Dresses by London Times start at under $100 and look like a million. Totally welcoming and full of customer service, there isn't a shape, size or budget that new owner Carmelina Tonkinson can't handle (she used to work at Kleinfeld of "Say Yes to the Dress" fame!). Formal (expect bridal) to flattering and in between makes this shop a must-stop while in Keene. Pick up a little something here to wear to a "meet the candidate" house party and you'll find yourself on the high donor list! (603) 352-0681

All Things KitchenHeading to a summer music festival? Pick up a sophisticated picnic basket with all the accessories at Your Kitchen Store, 20 Main St. If you're looking for something you've seen used on a cooking show (white or black truffle oil?), chances are it's here. Need an indulgent gift? Why not a soda machine or ice cream-making kit? It's a classic Main Street store with original tin ceiling and wooden floor.

Three to GoTake the kids toLife is Sweet Candy Store, 93 Main St., for make-your-own Pixy Sticks! Miller Brother's-Newton is a must-stop for men who adore style and that GQ look! The newly renovated and expanded Lane Hotel lobby (absolutely gorgeous) is the perfect spot for a glass of wine and great people watching, 30 Main St.

Flowers & GiftsThere's something about Mary Schofield and In the Company of Flowers, 106 Main St., that is a bit intoxicating. Call it congeniality. While you can expect exquisite floral arrangements, the shop is full of unique one-of-a-kind gifts, linen, wearable art (authentic kimonos), hand-knitted sweaters for toddlers, candles, exotic cookware, lavender burning coils and so much more including très fashionable hats that can be folded in a suitcase and still look better than Beatrice's.
