March is the best time to pick up some local maple syrup products



Maple syrup in March is freshly distilled, but there are more ways to enjoy this sweet elixir. Find maple-based products easily by visiting a farmers market or one of the retail shops that carry local goods. Pick up mustard here, a sauce or collection of nuts there and a package of maple candies for the sweetest collection and the perfect gift basket! Maple Weekend is scheduled for March 22 and 23. Maple Butter, Maple Cream or Maple Barbeque Sauce

Try the cream/butter on pancakes, toast or muffins. It’s fat-free and packed with flavor. It's also delicious on various vegetables, such as Brussels sprouts, acorn or butternut squash. The Barbeque Sauce works well as a glaze for salmon, poultry or pork.

Mustards

Mustards in eight flavors, including Maple Basil Mustard (try this on sausage!) and Maple Apple Butter, which works very well on a toasted English muffin. The newest flavor is Maple Bourbon Mustard. Breads

A variety of breads, including maple and maple walnut bread. The breads are made with no preservatives and the flavor is very fresh. Loaves can be refrigerated or frozen.
