Peace, Love and Burgers are the throwback watchwords for this Portsmouth burger “joint.” Build your own burger by adding “goodies” of your choice, including fried eggs, house special hush hush sauce and chimichurri with a base of either beef, chicken or beans, all built on a potato bun. Customer favorites include the Stairway to Heaven with braised short ribs and caramelized onions and BBQ sauce for $6.50. Lexie’s Farmhouse Burger is a veritable salad and burger combination for $6.25. You know the love is real — a homemade cookie comes with the bill.

BRGR Bar
Chef and restaurateur Phelps Craig has opened an upscale burger bar in the trendy Portwalk district of Portsmouth, nestled between a variety of hotels and retail shops. Look for burgers created with the best ingredients available from Maine-raised, grass-fed and hormone-free beef to local bacon. Each burger will be a showcase in itself, from the crispy duck patty with apple-celeriac slaw and the Mornay burger with a fried egg and cured ham to the Ahi tuna burger. A choice of seven house-made sauces will accompany the fries and inventive shakes will come in an adult version, if desired. The Brazen Burger is a 70/30 mix of ground brisket topped with pulled short-rib for a super juicy burger. Served with fries. $13

Sister restaurant to Local Burger in Northampton, Mass., where beef and veggies are sourced locally. The Juicy Lucy is 12 ounces of flame-broiled, hand-pattied burger with cheese on the inside. It’s served on a soft sesame seed bun. $8.99
