Duet Avi & Celia February 12th

Using a washboard, steel guitar and their voices, Avi & Celia have mastered a sound of their own in mixing the music of the "old" with the pop and rock sounds of today. This Boston-based duet combines the cultural music of the delta and country blues, the activist folk songs, jazz from New Orleans, soul music of the early Atlantic Records recordings with rock n' roll and today's pop music. This duet inspires people of all backgrounds, races, and classes and is focused on making music for the people. They already have built a loyal fan base from touring the Eastern US for the past several years, performing at places such as the Iron Horse Music Hall, Club Passim, Higher Ground, The Paradise, Champlain Valley Folk Festival, and the Discover Jazz Festival. Thursday, February 12 The Press Room 77 Daniels Street in Portsmouth This is a free event. 9 p.m. For more information and a sneak preview, visit www.myspace.com/aviandcelia or www.aviandcelia.com.
