Not Your Mom’s Musical Theater is back in 2013 with a unique concert series highlighting lesser-known and forgotten musicals from a given year, with emcees to tell the often hilarious stories behind them. "Next up is Something Wonderful I Missed: The Musicals of 1983," which features music from on and off-Broadway thirty years ago.
Concerts will be emceed by local performers and personalities who will illustrate the often ridiculous and always interesting history of the songs. Of the series, Feinberg writes “Last season, Not Your Mom’s Musical Theater created an innovative series to showcase lesser-known musicals while making high-quality entertainment accessible to everyone by eliminating a required ticket price and creating a show appropriate for all audiences.
This year, audiences should expect an even better series, with two hilarious emcees transporting audiences back in time. The singers are fantastic, the songs will surprise and delight, and you might even learn a thing or two amidst the laughter!” The Greater Derry Arts Council co-presents the series, which is sponsored in part by Appletree Business Services of Londonderry.
The series is directed by Jamie Feinberg and the cast includes Mario Arruda, Jocelyn Duford, Sheree Owens, Joey T., and an additional rotating cast of emcees and performers.
Not Your Mom’s Musical Theater is known for producing lesser-known, innovative and edgy musical theater in southern NH. Their next show, the hilarious '50s parody "Zombie Prom," runs September 27-October 6 in co-production with the Greater Derry Arts Council at the Derry Opera House.
