SEE Science Center in partnership with SilverTech and UNH Manchester are concluding their first season of Science on Tap with a discussion of the Science of Beer.

Before the beer hits your glass it is analyzed, examined under microscopes and tested in labs. Whether you are a home brewer, a connoisseur or just like to kick back and enjoy any brew, come and learn about the science that goes into America’s adult beverage of choice. Learn about the process from malting to mashing to fermentation. Ask about the ingredients, conditions, equipment and supervision it takes to get the flavor you crave.


The discussion will be led by a panel of local experts including:

  • Bruce Elam Trade Brewer for Shipyard Brewing Co.
  • David Yarrington, Director of Brewing Operations Smuttynose Brewing Co.
  • Tom Neel Candia Road Brewing

Science on Tap events are informal discussions with local scientists and experts on a particular topic. Science on Tap is a program of the SEE Science Center in partnership with SilverTech and UNH Manchester. It is part of an ongoing series that meets every second Tuesday at the Shaskeen Pub in Manchester (except July & August). The events are free. The Shaskeen donates a percentage of food and beverage sales to the program.

Drop-ins are welcome but if you know you will be attending in advance, please RSVP using Eventbrite.
