L.A. Burdick Chocolate of Walpole is the host of a red carpet affair with award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns.
“An Evening with Ken Burns” is a benefit for the , now in the home stretch of raising the remaining $15,000 of its $135,000 goal.
Tickets are $75/person or $125/couple and include beer and cider from Clarke Distributors and Barefoot Wine and Bubbly, hearty appetizers courtesy of The Restaurant at Burdick and a chance to chat with Ken Burns whose film company, Florentine Films, is located in Walpole.
Five exceptional silent auction items will be up for bid, including a couples massage from Deep Roots Massage, a his-and-her shopping package from Miranda’s and Miller Brothers and a spa package from European Esthetics.
Burns was the winner of the first annual Jonathan Daniels award in 2013 for his documentary, "Central Park Five," presented to a socially conscious filmmaker of great artistic merit that echoes Daniels’ courage, purpose and spirit by using film in a powerful and transformative way.
The 2014 award-winning film is "Watchers of the Sky," Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and Director Edet Belzberg’s Sundance award-winning film about the legacy of lawyer Raphael Lemkin, who became a tireless human rights advocate and introduced the word "genocide" to describe mass slaughter as a crime against humanity in 1944 (www.watchersofthesky.com).
